LIMITED EDITION of 200 copies printed by Charles Young at the Norman Press, Chicago on Troya paper, Bewick blocks hand printed by R. Hunter Middleton at his Cherryburn Press, hand-bound at Monastery Hill. The index identifies each block and the volume and page number the image appeared in the 5-volume memorial edition of Bewick's works. Thomas Bewick (1753-1828) "was an English wood engraver and natural history author. Early in his career he took on all kinds of work such as engraving cutlery, making the wood blocks for advertisements, and illustrating children's books. He gradually turned to illustrating, writing and publishing his own books, gaining an adult audience for the fine illustrations in A History of Quadrupeds." Wikipedia.
