Junipero Serra (1713-1784), founder of the first 9 Spanish missions in California, was perhaps the most important father of the California Missions. This book covers the research done on him by Charles F. Lummis (1859-1928). Lummis was a journalist whose dedication to historical preservation and intellectualism had a huge influence on the culture of Los Angeles. He was particularly interested in the California Missions and Junipero Serra.
