1 leaf loose, the other mounted on stiff board so that only one side is visible. 2 Leaves. Pages 57-58 and 223. 13 3/8 x 8 1/2 inches and 12 3/8 x 8 inches, the margins of the mounted leaf have been trimmed but without loss of text. Altogether 9 hand-colored illustrations, with text in English, single column of the loose page; text clean, unmarked, pencil book seller notation in the margin of the loose leaf verso, light toning or soiling, paper adhesive in the upper margins of the verso of the loose leaf appears to be remnant of a paper hinge. Very Good. John Gerard was an English botanist and herbalist. He maintained a large herbal garden in London and is best known for his monumental Herball, or Generall Historie of Plantes (1st ed., 1597). His heavily illustrated Herball was the most widely circulated botany book in English in the seventeenth century.
