Includes an 8-page facsimile "Report of the Greenwater Copper Mines and Smelter Company for the Year Ending December 31st, 1907" and a facsimile perforated order form for The Death Valley Chuck-Walla: A Magazine for Men on the Desert - of the Desert - for the Desert; text clean, unmarked. Housed in a blue-cloth-covered box that folds over and secures with a magnetic strip, titled and decorated in gilt; binding square and tight. Muir Dawson's Copy. Fine. The Death Valley Chuch-Walla was published in 10 issues from January 1907 to June 1907 and was succeeded by the Greenwater Miner, which only ran a single issue. It was light, airy, and full of good humor and was quoted by West Coast editors including the Los Angeles Times. These publications were mining magazines published by two young men who built a loyal following of about 1,000 subscribers from all over the country, including twenty from Wall Street. It is now a great rarity; the only known complete set of The Death Valley Chuch-Walla is housed at the Bancroft library. After a fire in Greenwater, Kunze and Glasscock drifted off to found the Owens Valley Herald in Bishop.
