White cloth spine with gilt titling, cream paper over boards, red woodblock illustration on front cover; binding square and tight, toned, boards warped, endpapers toned. "for Muir Dawson, S. Hark - 1960" on front free end paper. Very Good. British artist Henry Brown (1816-1870) lived in The Netherlands for many years. This volume is printed from 19 original woodblocks executed by Brown for his 1841 work The Netherlands; the illustrations depict Dutch life circa 1840. The original blocks now reside at the Museum Enschede. Brown was the head of the Royal School of Engraving in The Hague.
