The text of the song was printed in Haarlem by Joh. Enschede en Zonen as an experiment to cast a font of type in sand. The important printing firm used the experiment as a means of proving that it is possible to get a font that is suitable for printing by casting the font in sand, as may have been done by some type-founders in the fifteenth century. The result is an elegant Gothic type face.
