Small folio. 12 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. Pages CXIII and CXIIII. On the recto are lines 352-360 surrounded by commentary, and a large woodcut illustration (7 x 5 7/8 inches) of the fall of Troy, with lines 361-379 of Virgil's Aeneid, with surrounding commentary; light toning, the block showing signs of wear with minor inking in the image and in the text on the verso. Very Good. From the First Crespin Lyons edition, 1529, containing the reused woodcuts prepared for the Johan Gruninger Strasbourg edition of Virgil, (1502). Book 2 of the Aeneid begins with Aeneas' recounting of the end of the Trojan War. This woodcut illustrates the meeting of Aeneas and his men with the Greek warrior Androgeos and his warriors; who the Trojans slaughter wholesale.
