[iv], (105)-136, [iv] pp. 8 pages of advertisements at front and rear; text unmarked, foxed, some pages toned. Pictorial wrappers printed in red and black, stapled; binding square and tight, creased from top to bottom, shelf wear. Good. The Society of the Philistines was an "Association of Book Lovers and Folks who Write. Organized to further Good-Fellowship among men and women who believe in allowing the widest liberty to Individuality in Art." Articles include "A Great Mistake," by Stephen Crane; "The Model of a Statesman," by Charles M. Skinner; "The Filling of the Joneses," by William McIntosh; "Paul Knew," by Frederic Almy; and more. A fun example of Hubbard's Arts and Crafts movement, and an early printing of Stephen Crane's "A Great Mistake."
