FIRST EDITION of this tribute volume to the 25th anniversary of the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz. 4to. 11 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches. xvi, 448 pp. Articles on all aspects of the book arts in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish, etc., but with a focus on incunabula, title page printed in red and black, color letterpress frontispiece illustration, text illustrated throughout including type specimens, 46 numbered plates, followed by 12 unnumbered plates showing the development of book illustration (about half color), plus ten pages of advertisements from contemporary printers; text clean, unmarked. Oatmeal cloth stamped in black and red, decorative end-papers, top edge stained yellow, added mylar dust-jacket; binding square and tight, minor foxing to covers. Very Good. Beautifully letterpress printed. Explores the full range of the book arts, including Stanley Morison on "The type of the Hypnertomachia Poliphili," (2 figures); Douglas McMurtrie on "The early typefounders of Denmark," (4 plates); and Juan B.
