Perfect bound printed wrappers; binding square and tight. Fine. This specimen reproduces the last specimen of the British Foundry, which was created by John Bell (1745-1831), an independent publisher. The specimen displays all the types cut for the foundry with an additional specimen of cast ornaments and engravings on wood offered for sale. Also included is the sale catalogue for the foundry, announced 27 November 1797. The Introduction places Bell and the British Foundry in their historical context.
