(xxii, 26) pp. Series half-title, half-title, Introduction in Italian, reproduces the engraved title page and 23 letters of the original Alfabeto delle Maiuscole Antiche Romane (circa 1600); text clean, unmarked. Plain white stiff wraps, dust-jacket printed on blue paper and folded over the wraps, added mylar dust-jacket; binding square and tight, foot of spine lightly bumped. Cloth-covered slip case prepared by Heritage Bindery with added printed paper label. Very Good. The writing master, Luca Orfei, a native of Fano, was engaged by Pope Sixtus V to letter about fifty inscriptions for his public works, many of which remain to this day. This volume reproduces Orfei's Alfabeto delle Maiuscole Antiche Romane (circa 1600) while the Introduction of Armando Petrucci dilates upon what little we know of the life and times of Luca Orfei. Printed at Giovanni Mardersteig's Stamperia Valdonega.
