LIMITED EDITION of 500 copies, the second state with binding designed by Saul and Lillian Marks executed by Bela Blau. Miniature Book. 2 1/2 x 1 15/16 inches. xxxviii, (62) pp. Half-title, title page printed in red and black inks with small typographic decoration, headpieces, introduction by Fanny Vandergrift Osbourne Stevenson (1840-1914), 1 wood engraving by Mary Kuper, printer?s mark on the colophon; text clean, unmarked. Quarter linen spine, printed paper over boards spine titled in red; binding square and tight. Original miniature prospectus laid in. Fine. This was Robert Louis Stevenson's last work, written in Samoa where he died unexpectedly. It contains beautiful daily prayers written for his family and the Samoan people who shared the Stevenson home. The book includes an introduction by Mrs. R. L. Stevenson on the importance of the prayers, and of her family's life on the island.
