Founder's Edition. Pamphlet. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. 24 pp. 24 recipes identifying the women who recorded them and the ranchos where they dwelled, list of proverbs; text clean, unmarked. Pictorial wrappers printed in black and red, stapled; binding square and tight, minor shelf wear, bookseller's ticket in upper right hand corner of page 1. SIGNED by Mildred Yorba MacArthur inside rear cover. Near Fine. This pamphlet contains a number of recipes inspired by the lifestyles of the Californios, the Spanish and Mexicans settlers of California from 1810-1860. It also provides background on the construction and ideals of the Saddleback Inn, which was built to honor the early days of Western settlement in the state. The Inn was destroyed by fire in 2013 and torn down.
