Envelope with 6 samples of modern printing and 9 pieces of ephemera, 1827-1865, which are handwritten receipts, 6 with contemporary printing, also included is a 7 3/4 x 10 3/4 inch sheet of yellow paper printed in red and black that describes the "American Rare Invoices" offering of ephemera material from T. J. Lyons. Envelope postmarked 1961; envelope toned, contents in great shape. Various sizes and lengths. Very Good. T. J. Lyons Press was based in Boston, Massachusetts, under the direction of T. J. Lyons: "2000 Type Faces - all kinds Borders & Ornamentation." Lyons was an avid collector of nineteenth-century American Typography. He would use the types he collected to print various materials, in this case it includes a business card for Carol R. Johnson, Landscape Architect, a Rain Check (2 copies), an Invitation to the Chicago Antiques Fair, the "The Tenth Beatitutde" (Blessed is he who payeth his bills - for he shall be trusted again). This envelope also contains nine pieces of manuscript ephemera, hand-written receipts from 1827-1865, 6 of which have samples of contemporary printing on these small scraps of paper.
