Blind- and gilt-stamped pale blue cloth, beveled edges; binding square and tight, rubbed, corners bumped, spotting and soiling to covers. SCARCE. Very Good. Edwin G. Waite was a goldminer, newspaper man, author, and politician. He first entered the California State Assembly in 1855, representing Alameda. Waite was a newspaperman associated with the Nevada Daily Transcript, Nevada City. Waite is one of the contributors to The Discovery of Gold in California (1968), which reprinted his recollections of the 1849-1851 gold diggings. He died in office while serving as Secretary of State.
