Grant Dahlstrom had been close to Will Bradley during Bradley's last years and provided much of the illustrative material in this pamphlet, while Apostol provided the text. William Henry Bradley (1868-1962) was an American Art Nouveau illustrator and artist. Nicknamed the "Dean of American Designers" by the Saturday Evening Post, he was the highest paid American artist of the early twentieth century, and designed many type faces. In later life, Bradley worked as a consultant for the American Type Founders and worked for William Randolph Hearst's film division, eventually founding his own film production company. Bradley was tied into the circle of Los Angeles-area fine printers, including Ward Ritchie and Grant Dahlstrom in the late 1940s and 1950s; this relationship providing the context and incentive for these remarks by Apostol with Dahlstrom's illustrative material about Bradley's work.
