LIMITED EDITION of 325 copies, 225 for members of the Roxburghe and Zamorano Clubs and 100 privately printed. 8vo. 9 x 5 3/4 inches. [vi], 38, [2] pp. decorations throughout in red ink, black-and-white half-tone illustrations throughout, bibliography; text unmarked except in the notes and bibliography with some pencil marginalia. Burnt-orange wrappers printed with red ink; binding square and tight, shelf / use wear, insect damage to the wrappers. Good. Clyde Browne (1872-1942) established the Abbey Press and was a printer in the Los Angeles area for approximately forty years until his death in 1942. Browne moved to Los Angeles about 1902 or 1903, where he worked at the Los Angeles Examiner for four years. In 1909, he set up his own prints shop, and by 1910 had established the firm of Browne and Cartwright with Alexander Cartwright. Shortly afterwards he helped Occidental College and the university of Southern California start their own school newspapers. Browne printed his own work as well as that of others. Various printed rented studio space from Brown in the Abbey San Encino, including Ward Ritchie, House Olson and Scott Hazleton.
