1 Single Manuscript Leaf from a Italian Missal.
Italy 1450 Collectible: Like New 
Fifteenth-century, text including a reading from Matthew, Chapter 6. Folio 317. 14 x 9 7/8 inches. Written on vellum in a fine Gothic hand, text in Latin, double-column, 32 lines per page, 6 two-line initials alternating red and blue within fine decorative borders, fine scroll work in the margins in blue, rubrics in red; very clean wide margins, foliated in pencil in the upper right corner of the recto, and a pencil inventory number in the lower left corner of the recto. Fine. The text on this fifteenth-century manuscript Book of Hours leaf includes a reading from Matthew, Chapter 6: "At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, no one is able to serve two masters," and an accompanying homily, among other liturgical texts.

Text from the seven sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 5 13/16 x 3 1/4 inches. Written on vellum in a fine Gothic hand, text in Latin, single-column, 29 lines per page, 3 double-line gilt initials on blue and terra cotta grounds, ruled in red, several captial letters hightlighted in yellow; text clean, unmarked, soiling to the margins. Very Good. The text on this sixteenth-century Italian Book of Hours leaf contains excerpts from the Office of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a devotion ordered to create in the hearts of the faithful a tender compassion for the sufferings of the Mother of God.

Text from Psalm 33 and Psalm 34. 5 x 3 1/2 inches. Written on vellum in a very small and fine Gothic hand, text in Latin, single-column, 30 lines per page, 2 two-line initials in red and blue with alternating tracery, 35 single-line initials alternating in red and blue with opposite color tracery. Fine. The text on this fifteenth-century manuscript Psalter leaf contains part of the text of Psalms 33 and 34. Very finely written with exquisite filigree on the initials.
