LIMITED EDITION of 4 copies. Miniature Book. 2 7/8 x 1 7/8 inches. [8] pp. Hand-painted water-colors by Donna Thomas on Peter's handmade paper and hand-stitched into the folded panels, folded accordion-style; text clean, unmarked. Stiff boards with maps mounted on front and rear covers, hand-colored, hand-lettered, and hand-stitched title label on front cover; binding square and tight. Fine. The text of this miniature book is from the Utah Phillips song "The Telling Takes Me Home." On June 19, 2011 Peter and Donna Thomas arrived in Salt Lake City during their Gypsy Wagon Book Mobile Tour. Their visit coincided with a concert given by Duncan Phillips for "The Long Memory Project," which is building a public archive for the works of Bruce "Utah" Phillips. In between songs, Peter and Donna created this beautiful miniature book to benefit the project. Only 4 copies were made. Utah Phillips was a labor organizer, folk singer, storyteller, poet and the "Golden Voice of the Great Southwest." He described the struggles of labor unions and the power of direct action, self-identifying as an anarchist. He often promoted the Industrial Workers of the World in his music, actions, and words.
