Portfolio. 13 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches. 43 samples of typographic work housed in specially designed portfolio. Includes 16-page pamphlet (with 2 additional pages of "Late Additions" inserted) that describes each separate contribution; text of the pamphlet clean, unmarked, some of the samples have foxing or soiling. Cloth-backed folding portfolio with patterned paper on the sides; the portfolio has water-damage, cloth is frayed, foxing. Good. This portfolio contains the fruits of an international project asking book designers from all over the world to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Gutenberg 42-line Bible. Each participant designed and printed their own solution for the typographic problem of the Bible. This copy contains all of the 43 design samples, plus the summary pamphlet written by Paul Bennett, Francis Meynell, C. Volmer Nordlunde, Raul M. Rosarivo, Maximilien Vox, Bror Zachrisson and Hermann Zapf. The contribution of Maximilien Vox is an "excuse" card for not finishing his. Also included is a 4-page pamphlet entitled "Liber Librorum" for the exhibition of the same work held at the Dickson Art Center, University of California, Los Angeles, March 16 to May 1, 1962, written by Robert F. Heinecken, Instructor, Department of Art, UCLA, and an additional 4-page sheet with the Table of Contents of the Bible and the first 2 pages of the text of Genesis, unattributed. Price:
